Over the past 7 years, I have been allowed access to most anything and everything Polaris does….It helps that they’ve become family. One thing I do enjoy, and how it all began, was hanging out in the studio during rehearsal. Capturing moments of brilliance along with the fun, not so serious moments. This is just a day in the life of Polaris….

If you have not taken the opportunity to see Polaris perform, you really need to get on it….It’s beautiful. You can find their schedule on their site, www.polarisdance.org, along with opportunities to explore your own passion for dance.

iCHANGE – Polaris Dance Theatre – Part II

Once again Polaris Dance Theater was simply amazing, as they debuted their new work iCHANGE at the Newmark Theatre. In addition to their own work, Polaris brought in New York City’s KDNY, for their first west coast appearance. It was two nights of incredible talent, energy and passion in dance. As always, Robert Guitron did brilliant job on choreography and music. I would love to get in his mind, and experience his vision….He is absolutely inspiring.

If you were not part of the Newmark Theatre crowd, I urge you to go to their site, and get on their mailing list…You need to experience these dancers! Andaz Seven Year Anniversary Celebration

Wow, I can honestly say, this is the best dance party in Portland. Described as “Bhangra*Bollywood*Desi Beats”, the music is incredible, and the energy unmatched. Everyone spends the entire night on the floor, with arms in the air, and groovin to the beat. Fez Ballroom is transformed into an Indian dance club, and you truly feel as though you’ve left the states. Dj Anjali & The Incredible Kid know what to play, and never let the energy die. You simply have to experience it yourself!

For this party they started the night with a bhangra dance lesson by Bay Area instructor Joti Singh and live dholi Bongo Sidibe both from the Duniya Dance Company.
