Okay, I have to say, Yachats may just be the most incredible place I’ve ever visited. It just feels right. Every person I meet has a wonderful story to share as well as an interest in hearing yours. Between the ocean and the drive along the river, this is certainly one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. It’s just right….Today started with a little writing by the window, as I watched the seagulls feeding on the smelt(I think they were smelt) as the waves crashed into the rocks. It was really cool.
After the morning writing, it was time to venture out on the town. I set out with cameras in hand, looking for interesting things to photograph. Before getting too deep into the process, I decided to grab a quick coffee at the Green Salmon. When you come down to Yachats, you must stop into this coffee shop. I sat there taking in the incredible energy, as the different characters of this eclectic community, stopped in for a quick bite or drink. There are few places I’ve experienced this before, and I look forward to more the rest of the week.
One of the fabulous characters who came through the door, was none other than Saint Nick himself. I found myself immediately drawn to this incredibly warm and dynamic red suited man. We exchanged a hello and a quick story of how we arrived, and then he told me of his trip down river, to deliver gifts to various families. I lightly threw out the idea of taking me along to snap a few pics, to which he sounded receptive. We then went on to drink our coffee’s at separate tables. As I sat, I thought about what prevents me from just laying it out there, and telling someone that I would love to come along and take some photographs. Well, something added to my list of things to delve into as I spend the next week here. Sorry, a little detour….So, as we finished, he gave me a quick look and asked if I was ready to go. Absolutely……
I sat with he and his wife, and learned a bit about them and their lives. Sometimes, when you allow yourself to be aware, life is just so perfect. On my trip to nowhere in particular, looking to reflect and prepare for 2007, I stop in to a local coffee shop and meet a man dressed as Santa Claus. The man, also known as Max Glenn, happens to specialize in personal empowerment. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I just love this sort of thing.
I traveled up the river, along with Max and his wife Marie, where I was introduced to DJ & John. DJ is just a fabulous kid living with his dad, while together they have been taking on leukemia….and winning. Here are a few snaps from the experience.

Thank you DJ, John, Max & Marie for letting me be a part of this!
